Welcome

Open Book, Open Thought is the manifestation of a lot of random thought and an urge to publish them so that they are at least accessible to anyone that deems it fit to give our blog a glance. We want to write about a range of topics spanning from the more controversial side of current events and issues to travel and sport - our goal is to present viewpoints that others may be too coy to openly discuss, to be bold, and to just have fun with our observations. We put it online because we want others to read it and talk about it, we want to hear your thoughts too! (although that is a dangerous proposal for us to practically present to some browsers of the web)

So let's start our brain-child right and introduce the authors:

Stephen Bernard

Our founder and co-author, Stephen is a double major in International Studies and Arabic at the Virginia Military Institute. He's a collegiate rugby player who hopes to commission and serve in the United States Navy.  Stephen's interests include rugby, the outdoors, politics, and books but his main motive for Open Book, Open Thought was his observations of people coming short in living life - "People become too afraid to pursue what they love, they back down, and they are deprived of the ominous beauty of the unknown...take chances and face challenges head on or else you'll never know what you are made of. Go out and get what you're worth."

He's never too shy to be a gentleman to every woman he meets.

Samuel Crawford

Esteemed co-author and intellectual, Sam Crawford is a student of Modern Languages at the Virginia Military Institute. A long time outdoorsman and track athlete, Sam also takes pride in his aficion for philosophy and many of the abstracts of life while maintaining a bold, charismatic perspective on the necessities for leading a good life. Sam - who plans to commission into the Marine Corps - continues to be one of Stephen's closest friends at the Institute and their complementary attitudes and characters will fuel the dynamic nature of Open Book, Open Thought. What a stud.
